What is a doula?
Doula is now in the dictionary: "a woman experienced in childbirth who provides advice, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a mother before, during, and just after childbirth." Well, I couldn't say it better, really, because that is exactly what I do!

- shorter labors with fewer complications
- a reduction in negative feelings about one's childbirth experience
- a reduction in the need for pitocin, forceps or vacuum extraction and cesareans
- a reduction in the mother's request for pain medication and/or epidurals

I believe that birth is a normal human process and that it is a once in a lifetime, spiritual, emotional and life-changing event. I have always been a strong supporter of a woman's ability and right take responsibility for her own health, and this includes pregnancy and the birth of a baby, of course!
Ultimately, I believe that this is YOUR experience, YOUR body, YOUR birth and YOUR baby. I will respect and honor your wishes, provide you with the information and individualized support you deserve, and work towards helping you have a memorable birth experience.
